It started with one woman's belief that helping kids learn to read would make a difference. To that end Lullalee has strategically partnered with authors, educators and entertainers to develop programs that help underserved children facing learning challenges. Since 2004, our non-profit 501(c)(3) has provided Car-Ni-Fairs, Storytelling Projects and Book Grants to over 200,000 children, veterans, seniors and their families in California, Louisiana and Africa .
Guided by the mantra "Find Your Special Gift Through Art, Music & Literacy" Lullalee develops services recognizing that children learn in different ways and that exposure to the arts helps explore and exploit those differences. Demand has defined the need for our highly successful programs.
Lullalee continues to develop exciting new approaches that inspire children to embrace literacy.
Bio
Lee Ann Butler-Owens- known as Lullalee, (pronounced Lulla as in Lullaby) is a classical composer, author, voice-over actor, philanthropist and an education activist. Her quest is to ensure that every child has access to positive learning materials enabling children to “Find their Special Gift” (LPS company slogan).
Butler-Owens founded Lullalee Productions and Services (LPS) a non-profit 501c (3), after her personal experience as a flight attendant flying on 9/11.
She authored “Colleen’s Dollhouse” a musical audio book supporting the importance of education. During her marketing campaign and school visitation for “Colleen’s Dollhouse” she discovered that at-risk children and educational facilities in low-income districts did not have the tools needed to excel or compete for higher learning opportunities. Butler-Owens vowed to make a difference by encouraging at-risk children to read through art, music and entertainment. Her concept was to make reading fun.
Lullalee strategically partnered with authors, educators and entertainers to develop programs that help underserved children facing learning challenges and embraces the fact that “children learn in different ways” (LPS company slogan) .
Since 2004, Lullalee has provided Car-Ni-Fairs (Magical Literacy Fair), Storytelling Projects and Book Grants to over 22 institutions -serving more that 200, 000 children and their families in California, Louisiana and Africa free of charge.
Butler-Owens sits on the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army-San Francisco Chapter
